No denying the Sufjan Stevens parallels, in fact if we were towards the end of the year I’d have pegged it for a song from his Christmas collections. But we’re not and Corwin is his own act and this track has it own lightness of being that is suited to walking merrily through summer meadows with nothing but the sun on our back. ‘The Paradise Destroyed by the Straight Line’ deserves to be on everyone’s speaker for it brings with it so much hope and illumination, so much in fact that I had it on repeat because each time the happiness index was topped up no end.
