The Dodies – Science

That is as lively as can be but full of idiosyncratic turns to beat the band and that is enough to get our plummage all ruffled up for the weekend. The true star of course is the singer who has an excess of energy and thankfully has found a way in which to expend it. There is a curious resemblence to Brett Anderson of Suede in that frequent falsetto but there is a wildness or an untettered quality to the piece which sets it apart from most others. Could be all explained by the fact that the Dodies recorded it off the west coast of Ireland, where all bets are off and which most definitely fed into their frequency. KH
