Lizzy Dutton – Human

At nearly 6 minutes ‘Human’ can afford to take its time so initially we were dealt an array of pastoral waves, nothing that might cock the ear but then plenty that has you hanging on to see what comes next. And patience and curiousity in this case is rewarded as Lizzy Dutton spins something that is undeniably folk but also wispy to a degree that we felt we had at least found a lullaby for our adult years. Of course there is melancholy, an abundance of it in fact but also the kind of devil may care swaying that is a lesson for those who take life too serious and miss the important things going on all around as a result. An uplifting lament, yep that kind of arresting juxtaposition alright. KH
