Leon in the Wild – Powerlines

I think the psychedelic lense has been applied again here – akin to ‘Kingfish Pies’ by Midlake initially, a song with certain catchiness but this an act who try to put us through our paces before revealing what is a near punch the air in delight refrain. I don’t think there is quite the melancholy of Grandaddy but I could see why people would have thoughts in that Jason Lytle led direction because ‘Powerlines’ is vocal driven. The chorus is key, it was impressive first time but I gave it a minute and swung back around to make sure. And you know what I let myself go, a rare event but Northern California’s Leon in the Wild have cracked it here. KH
