You know probably from the moment we realised that music was going to be the thing for us, the thing to lift us free from everything, we realised that the dreamier side of indie pop was where we’d focus our attentions. The sort of thing where vocal melodies are kind, not even the lyrics so much as the hook and the way songs like NYC’s dayaway allow us to hum with our eyes closed and feel the pretend sun on our face as a result.
