This is windswept stuff with the veracity of an Arcade Fire track headed up by Stuart Staples of Tindersticks and of course Nick Cave in the studio bristling with intention. Makes like a freight train but luckily we have a ticket in first class so we are safe in the knowledge that no matter how bumpy the ride gets we’ll be able to enjoy a comfortable experience. Along the way Arizona’s Josué Kinter ushers in the ghosts of the past with those korg/hammond sweeping accompaniments to add up to an alternative to bland existence in the form of a knockout piece of pulling the best of the hand we’ve been dealt.
