Such a simple refrain but it feels like a fresh walk in the country because Lucky Lo (Sweden’s Lo Ersare) put the vocals front and centre and what intriguing intonations we have on our ears as a result. The whole enterprise reminded me of the Beatles but could also be parallel in comparison terms with a whole host of folk greats too. ‘Mary Mind’ operates at its own pace, building subtlety to a tapestry of sound that could well keep the winter blues at bay and that is not just down to the narrative. It takes its inspiration from a spell of sailing and I am not ashamed in the slightest that it was incredibly adept at floating our boat in the process. Fresh genius. KH
