Spirit and the Cosmic Heart are a dreamy outfit I’ve variosly compared to Blue Oyster Cult and Dire Straits but on this from favourite track from their debut EP they’ve wisely swung back around to Slowdive. In the process ‘Shadow’ makes for the perfect post shoegaze comedown, you can predict the thunder in the chords but what drives this piece is a forlorn lead vocal and the combination with the swirling dreaminess. Yep ‘Shadow’ was made for closing ones eyes and getting lost in its lush tapestry. KH
