Not sure this act (Josh Smith and some other indie luminaries) could get much more indie if they tried and I must say Atlanta’s Mallbangs are operating in corridors that we forever find ourselves occupying ourselves. And they do plenty on this their debut single (from debut EP ‘Put Me Out’) to move the goalposts by drifting off-piste vocally and in those little instrumental bursts that have the taste of summer in the sugar coated engine room. Sweet stuff and a reminder of why we fell in love with music that inhabits the glorious fringes. KH
