Rare to hear brass arrive so early in a piece but this artist has a way of doing things where the various impulses feel fresh and interesting. Something jazz, but also an introspection that never feels like it is going descent into self-pity or whimsy, instead we get realism done with a fair degree of panache. ‘Pedals’ also feels relaxed in a mannerism that Dusty Springfield could pull off when the mood took her and with all the colourful edging of an arrangement that is in itself spotlight hogging. CaroMia Tiller’s ‘Pedals’ feels ever so effortless, an occurance that will make the summer feel even better. KH
