This is getting back to the Stray Fossa we know, the straight ahead indieism of the sound that hits you square between the eyes like a sunshine ray in midsummer. Of course the Virginia troupe add their own twist on the formula but we wouldn’t expect anything different from this band. The playing on ‘Hypocritic’ is innovative too, taking us through the gears as it shifts from full on psych drifts to noodley asides and back again. The epicentre though are the harmonies that hit a purple patch at the chorus to remind us of Ride (and Teenage Fanclub) back in the day. Lovely stuff and much more where that came from on the band’s just released debut LP ‘With You For Ever’. KH
