Echoing chords of the likes that characterise ‘Darken Your Door’ will always curry favour with any indie head worth their salt and while we can probably only claim a pinch of the stuff Static in Verona do something here to sate our endless love for all things 90’s. I certainly felt something of gravitas happening in the denouement, the instrumental crescendo at the end that suggested Slowdive have somehow crept into the reckoning. Yep, it is rare these days that we’re compelled to hit repeat endlessly but the last minute or so here is so magical as to be downright life affirming. With Chicago’s Rob Merz at the helm we’re in safe hands. KH
