Must admit to ‘Northbound’ rather flooring me, I knew I was interested from the start given the lo-fi guitar chimings but the fey indie boy vocals appeared to bolster that initial rush of enthusiasm. The real rush arrived however when the instrumental break arrived towards the end and Ontario’s Mount Mural (their self-titled debut EP is out now) choose to go supernova. Like a classic we’d just happened upon it has a familiarity but also a vitality that will likely never grow old. Yep it may have been over 6 minutes long but repeat and repeat appeared to be the order of our day. KH
