What compulsive listening this is from the trans-european, Berlin based, act Darque&Dearest (Lizzy Sawyer and John Darque). ‘Rust’ possesses an opening minute that is just a hive of activity – gorgeous activity it must be said as the combination of the effervescent playing and the Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab) like chanteuse-ing gives us goosebumps the likes we haven’t experienced since ‘Transporte Sans Bouche’. The beats recall Caribou (or more precisely Manitoba’s ‘Brahminy Kite’) and so our dream of perfection came to fruition when the chorus stirred us into a frenzy. KH
