Silly early Christmas head on me thinking this was a cover of the Pretenders song ‘2000 Miles’ – a full three thousand too many too. And a whole lot better too because it offers a gorgeous Stereolab stars-in-the-night-sky vista that infers a psychedelic inspired imagination. Broadcast are a very close relation too, was almost singing ‘Before We Begin’ in tandem. Makes for a glorious apparition all told, lithe vocals and a chorus so colourful it could be what we need in these dark winter days. Joyful and triumphant stuff from Sweden’s (Einar Ekström and Siri Af Burén) Astral Brain. KH
