‘Fortress of Gold’ has that capacity to touch something deep inside and that is a rarity. There is soul and somehow a naivety too that really appeals. Perhaps it’s Nick Nash’s country swirl, the tinge of gospel or perhaps it’s just the combined familiarity of hearing several of this Salt Lake City artist’s tracks after which all the pieces fall into place. Find comfort, find friendship and that most precious of things, a song to return to time and again. KH
