Now this is a voice that cuts through the chaff that is most indie singers and rises to the top of the pile. That it comes from an Indian artist just shows us what we’ve been missing or waiting for all these years, a subtle shift that could open so many doors in the process. Reminds me of willolux from Canada, a firebrand and a free spirit who stands apart. There is also a little Dolores O’Riordan in the barely concealed forlorness. In short ‘Nothing For Our Own’ is simply beautiful, 100% authenticity in a world that sidelines it to the side more and more each day. Most of all though this is songwriting that gets to the nub of the power of music, persuasive and emotional from start to finish. KH
