‘Only the River’ reminds me of Christmas, more particularly an Antony & The Johnsons Christmas song where, for once, there is more than a few shards of happiness to go with the general sense of forlorn. There is something welling up inside here and in the process the listener may respond by welling up on the outside. Italy’s Alex Abbuehl goes even further though by adding a gospel influence to complete our already slavish devotion to his gorgeous song. KH
