GoldenStates – Winding River
Reminded me briefly of, 90’s band, the House of Love (their bass heavy ‘Marble’ in particular) and even if that comparison is a little wide of the mark there is definitely something of that decade going on here. The extent of the ambition is not even clear within the first minute, as ‘Winding River’ continues to bloom ’till fade out. You’ll feel swept up by its rich audio – the bass line rhythms are so swish and the female parts add the allure of a contemporary Human League track. The mysterious Harrison Kipner and Brantley Gutierrez have yet to put a foot wrong. KH
