‘Side Effects’ had my head swirling (!) full of Animal Collective, Beach Boys and all manner of psychedelic twisters with a penchant for sweet harmonies. Such is Jake Cheriff’s aptitude for such things the tune could have shone in the intense competition of a sixties summer of love. Yep, it is that good and though there are moments of familiarity it has such a shapeshifting persona it never comes close to sounding tired. What a notice of intention from the Brooklyn quartet. KH
