I love the restraint on show here, the kind you just don’t get that often on an electro pop number but no you can easily pick out the clever moving parts. Most notable though are Ariel Levitan’s breathy vocals and Jeremy Dawson’s close-encounters-of-the-third-kind spaceship landing synth pulsers which announce themselves periodically. ‘Paris’ moves like an 80’s track but pleasingly is never hamstrung by that particular association. In fact even those turned off by the current fashion for regurgitating that decade will be enamoured, I certainly was. An easy thrill, but a genuine thrill all the same. KH
