Well if you are in the market for the noise of an aircraft carrier that perfectly completes the job of clearing cobwebs from ears then ‘The Back Alley’ is your tune. And when the turbulence does subside we’re greeted with a serene vocal, an unexpected but welcome twist where the beauty (versus the beast) is stark and veering close to tear inducing. ‘The Back Alley’ sails close to sadcore but given the glorious bluster sadness is probably the least likely emotion you’re going to experience. Mending (Kate Adams and Joshua Dumas) have ambition beyond the reach of most bands with a series of releases planned from now until 2020 based on a weaving narrative under the umbrella title of ‘We Gathered at Wakerobin Hollow’.
