I always get a tingle of excitement listening to debut tracks knowing full well that this can often be the high watermark for plenty of bands as there can be years worth of planning/dreaming put into a few minutes of audio. And my how Truls Ludvig Johnsen and his friends have packed a whole lot in here, orchestral swoons, fireside vocals and boy/girl interplay. It all leads to something approaching the Polyphonic Spree (and maybe I’m From Barcelona/Gorkys Zygotic Mynci), all light, day and meaning thanks to a bevvy of coos and general melodic distraction. It seems to peter out on several occasions but before you know it there is all manner of sweet sonic confection to contend with. Swoon. KH
