For a second there I thought this was going to break into a sort of Darlene Love Christmas song. It didn’t but that doesn’t mean it didn’t have a splendid sense of what joyful songs should sound like. Not only that, the production and melodies were so fulsome it appeared to me like an apple tree weighed down by a bumper harvest of ripened fruit. In layman terms ‘Love Soaked World’ is incandescent pop filled with a rich seam of Beach Boys harmonies. Regardless it all adds up to a fab new song from the New York duo of Eric Ronick and Michael Cannova who, going on this evidence, could have 2018 all to themselves. KH
