Couldn’t see the tears but heard them rolling down Cale’s cheeks as the words streamed so eloquently from him. This is personal, hushed and probably a cathartic experience for the young singer. Could also help all manner of listener on the lookout for a friend or at the very least a shoulder to cry on. So sumptuously put together from a soul on the cusp of falling apart. I just love how ‘The Ferryman’ just ends and thankfully it is only the start for Hawkins who is dreaming up new tunes at a rate of one a month from his little bolthole in Brooklyn. The skies of Manhattan await. KH
