Such was my flippant attitude towards Sons and Daughters that I somehow aligned London’s Daughters with them. Such is the lot of a head that approximates several hundred scraps of scrawled on scrunched up papers but thanks to a faultless piece, soundtracked by this track, put together by RTE following the Algeria v Russia game last night I am now back on track. ‘Youth’ is taken from the band’s debut ‘If You Leave’ which was released in 2011 (self) and 2013 (4AD) and features Elena Tonra and two blokes variously from Sweden and France. Tonra takes her influences from traditional Irish music and the first album that informed her direction, namely Jeff Buckley’s ‘Grace’. ‘Youth’ certainly boasts a semblance of the latter and the lively dynamics could well owe a debt to the former. All told this is affecting, a tumbling momentum with its own singular vision. KD

Jeans! I always forget about this band. She stole my heart in 2011 when she sang “The Woods.” Great post and rekindling.
