Not that they weren’t writing perfect jangling ditties before their latest album ‘Atlas’ but the Brooklyn based Real Estate have now staked a claim for being the best the genre has to offer at present. It’s a simple formula really, one that relies on clean cut chiming guitar lines (effortlessly supplied by Matt Mondanile) and vocals that do nothing to diminish the shininess of the sound all around. Martin Courtney’s vocal are inch perfect, a soft confection that seamlessly integrate into the warm breezy instrumentation. ‘Atlas’ is awash with wonderfully crafted nuggets like ‘Talking Backwards’ with miracle harmonies and chords that flutter with the grace of a humming bird.
