Too hard to stay away from the new Washed Out record, ‘Paracosm’, its shimmering design syncing as it does perfectly to the Indian summer we are currently experiencing. The sense that it has all been done before is effortless swatted away thanks to Ernest Greene’s lush out of focus melodies (there are vestiges of U2 in places). It is the equivalent of freshness as played through a ghetto blaster that has recently been painted in vintage sepia. A glorious statement of intent from a young gun on his way to the top. KD
