In an age of retro everywhereness it can still be swell to return to the sound of the folks that kick started it all. With Massachusetts’ Bunny’s A Swine there is such an underlying sense of Pavement it could almost be their undoing. That is if they even cared that they sound as such because a perusal of their influences is entirely Malkmusless. Though not entirely pop honed as anything from ‘Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain’ this song ‘Lasell’ is a hive of engaging activity, from the Wedding Presentesque dancing chords to Emerson Stevens’ semi nutjob vocals. All told it is a form of madness but one that is infused with a brilliant sense of humour (c.f their song/video ‘I Should Have Left the Bushes Hours Ago’ below). A small time indie band intent on making the world smile, the best kind. KD
