Cayucas used to be called Oregon Bike Trails (who had a song called ‘Cayucas’) and the change of state (Cayucas is a small coastal town in California) has really served them well given the drop dead addictive nature of ‘High School Lover’. It has that instantly familiar feel, like a hidden Odelay number that was so well padded with silence we never got to hear it. My guess is that it will find its natural berth during the summer months where it will be accompanied by sound of crackling wood and ice cold imbibements. The band’s debut album ‘Big Foot’ is released at the end of the month so here’s hoping the other tracks are this cleverly constructed. KD
