Not sure if I told you about my 2001 obsession with the Strokes, or more specifically their debut album ‘Is This It?’ That love affair culminated in several boozy nights on Ko Pha Ngan when the occasion of a half-moon inspired all sorts of bourbon excess through the prism of that brilliant album. Anyway I was reminded of that energy on Eli & The Sound Cult’s ‘Worst Thing’, a sparkling affair that belies the fact that the gentlemen behind it appear a tad serious in their pursuit of ‘4 real’ness. Regardless there aren’t many ditties with this sort of personality doing the rounds so they should at least afford themselves a smile. EATSC’s debut album ‘Best of Pop’ is out this summer. KD
