Not sure why but 2013 has started out on a decidely shoegaze, or dreamgaze on this occasion, bent. Perhaps it’s the haze and near delirium caused by another Christmas in the recycle bin and the realisation that it won’t be coming around again for the longest time. No matter, this seam of early 90’s memorabilia has proven a boon for our jaded shell. ‘So Smart’ comes courtesy of Jonathan Relph of Indoor Voices and Ohbijou’s Casey Mecija who create a slow moving locomotive of distant electronica. The duo’s vocals float imperiously above the vast expanse of choppy electronic waters below to create a truly sumptuous listen. KD
