Earlimart – 10 Years

Seldom have the words ‘I’ve got nothing, without you’ sounded this heartfelt. And all from a band that seem to have been kicking around for ever (well, 1999 is 4ever for most reading this). Current LP ‘System Preferences’ is Ariana Murray and Aaron Espinoza’s first in almost half a decade and the break hasn’t dimmed their recollective nature. ’10 Years’ only suffers in being too short as it feeds shoegaze chords and ethereal vocals into a bewitching mix. Murray’s vocal diagonals towards the end had the hairs on the back of neck swelling, my forefinger did likewise as the effort involved in rewinding that section clocked up a dozen or more repeats. A genuine contender. KD
