Hardly surprising that Wichita Linemen sought to change their name to Amandine given that Fat Cat Records were sniffing around. Really wouldn’t have looked that good to be saluting the competition. The band come from a Swedish outpost but theirs is a sound that is rooted in the Americas. A pretty odd state of affairs but the fruits of their labour is a series of beautifully turned out melodies that hint at Midlake and other contemporary masters of melancholy. ‘Redemption’ probably won’t cure your aching waistline but my does it attend to heads in a distressed state of mush.
