Were it not for the fact that the whistling on this here tune is of the electro variety rather than straight from Trevor Powers’ lips we could have had a successor to Edward Sharpe’s ‘Home’. Still, this is a classy piece of atmosphere from the Idahoan who has gone from zilch to indie hero in the shortest possible time. Much of this is down to his hypnotic ‘The Year of Hibernation’ album which came out earlier this year. Such a woozy delight, flush with creativity and otherworldness. ‘Afternoon’ is a early delight, skewed on its own version of how momentum should build over a couple of manmade minutes. KD
