They called their first release ‘The Adventures of Professor Pumpernickel’ back in 2009 and on learning this (rather than hearing their music) I was in the throes of something approaching aural desire. Time passed and Deidre Muro (without the Irish r) and Tim Hammer (he sings the tongs) went about their business in that childlike wonder of theirs. Then in a carefully orchestrated campaign they released their vinyl ‘Dreamers’ single at a time when all the ones (6 to be precise) stacked up in unison. The title track is dipped in retroness, early 90’s I suspect, and is a careful and precise approximation of how those old songs with boy/girl call and response used to go. Naturally on gorging the piece we estimate our location to be 3 steps from heaven. KD
