Thao Nguyen appears to have ditched her bag of hammers for a new bag of tricks. And it’s a nice departure as her voice is now flanked by some equally spirited music. In other words the Get Down Stay Down aren’t playing second fiddle (!) for once. ‘Know Better Learn Faster’ is the self-titled track from the SF troupe’s last album and it really speaks volumes for their potential. If only they could slim down their moniker they could well be on everyone’s lips. KD
