Secret Cities – Portland

We’re back to Secret Cities, a mere month after our first visit. So much to enjoy from this Fargo band and their debut LP ‘Strange Hearts’. Their songs sound like they were converted to a lower bitrate removing the gloss and filling the blank spaces with a blocky density that muddies the earphone experience. It also heightens the sense that songs like ‘Portland’ could have emerged in any of the last 3 decades. But what’s rough around the edges is soft and comforting everywhere else. Audiophiles and common folk unite in feting this band. KD
