Craft Spells plunder the same stock (New Order and their precedents amongst others) as their contemporaries Beach Fossils and are just as successful in emerging with their dignity and shiny tunes intact. It all started out in a single bedroom and has ended up in lots of them, it’s just that style of music. Now that the duo’s LP ‘Idle Labor’ has been made into a proper LP via Captured Tracks you can expect these perfect nuggets to escape into the sunshine and greet a wider world. It may even tap into those still spooling their NME cassettes using makeshift pencil shaped objects. New meets old and old nods approvingly. KD
