Melbourne is not quite the new Brooklyn yet but the amount of goodness emanating from there at present would tend to suggest something wonderful is afoot. The latest piece of illuminating audio comes by way of Cut Copy who we’d always figured as deeply electro in their tendencies but have in ‘Where I’m Going’ created a midnight pop juggernaut. Not bad for a song that initially appears very like the start of something from Snow Patrol. It has Caribou’s stamp all over it so perhaps the jump from there old selves to here wasn’t such a big one after all. This is one of several tunes from Cut Copy’s latest album ‘Zonoscope’ that has had us blogger’s in a twist and it’s easy to see why given it multi-dimensional assault on all you call ear. If you’d told me that Cut Copy were capable of this 3 months ago I’d probably have had to kildea. KD
