Something tells me that 2011 could really be a winner for new music. It’s just a hunch but with less than a month gone there are a stack of songs from the new year that I am already cosying up to. Not least Lower Dens ‘Batman’ (available here at 128kbps so please buy the 7″ with download coupon for optimum results…fucking blogs) which is really exquisite. Now last year’s ‘Hospice Gates’ had us in a spin, so much so that the song made our top 42 for 2010, but ‘Batman’ sees the band move up a gear. Or down it such is its precise and stead shimmy. Jana Hunter’s vocals stop just short of caterwauling and give the song such a distinct personality it surely announces the Baltimore act as one of the best prospects around. KD
