This song was recorded in a shed so there are odd plops (paintbrush falls into bucket of water) and moments of hiss (that slow puncture) but the overall feeling is one of relief. Relief because we may have at long last landed an indie pop band that can rival those that effortlessly spill out of Glasgow. The Tender Trap formed after the dissolution of several other Dublin bands and are only finding their feet (their myspace views are still in the low hundreds ““ web popularity barometers, don’t you just love ’em). The demo tracks we’ve heard so far have all packed some lovely melodies, none more than ‘Clio’s Wave’, which had us thinking of Indonesia’s Annemarie. The DIY approach just inflates the sense of general tweeness and if the Tender Trap continue on an upward arc the hairclipped masses could soon be theirs. KD
