A new Camera Obscura record is something to celebrate, so pop open the sparkling wine because ‘My Maudlin Career’ is on the way in April. And to heighten the anticipation the band are giving the title track away for free. It’s no Lloyd (that’ll be first single ‘French Navy’) but it’s still a pretty little thing with the lilting instrumentation sounding almost as enticing as Tracyanne Campbell’s tender vocals. The band recently signed to 4AD and are down to play SXSW later this Spring so let’s hope 2009 is the year that finally catapults their gorgeous indie pop nuggets skywards. KD
