I don’t know about you but I have finally become completely bored with Radiohead. Bored with the endless drivel being spoken about their innovative distribution methods, bored with Thom’s increased airbagging about Earth’s demise (the latest being their withdrawal from this year’s Glastonbury due to the lack of public transport to the venue, goddamn tube is being shown up for its shortcomings again) and most disturbingly bored with their musical output (is it just me or is ‘In Rainbows’ an absolute snoozefest?). Radiohead were for so long untouchable, but at the current rate of progress they could soon become the new R.E.M. KD
i just love ice cream
hmmm, cryptic or merely an 8 year old speaking his mind.
Unfortunately I’ve got to agree with you. Not so much about Thom’s blather, but definitely about In Rainbows. What a sell-out album. It’s made me so disillusioned with my formerly favorite band that I’m not even going to try to go to a gig this time around.
You know, I love this blog, but WHAT? I mean, really, on all counts, what?>>– It’s hardly their fault people are still banging on about their distribution methods! They did a thing and the media got carried away, as ever.>>– He made a commitment to Friends Of The Earth (what a prick – he should be like me and not do anything); he’s a spokesman and he’s no slouch in that department.>>– The reason they’re not doing Glasto is that, in his own words, “Not because of transport issues but because the festival goers at Glastonbury were more than likely sick of the sight of us.. it felt a little early to be doing it again”>>– In Rainbows is gorgeous. End of.
Thanks Astonishing – you make a good argument and I agree with you on most points. Not so sure how to take this ‘people are sick of us so we’re not doing Glasto line’ though. Why release a record at all if people are sick of you? Anyway, taking all you have said in account I must admit that Radiohead still bore the pants of me. I can’t hear a single spark of their former genius on ‘In Rainbows’ and believe me I wanted to. It’s just a point of view though, hope you continue to drop by.
In Rainbows sucked. It’s total tripe. If the record was a debut album it would have bombed miserably. Radiohead is obsolete and irrelevant. Finally, someone has the sense to take the blinders off and declare it.
Fully agree on this & good to hear this view, they have long been overrated. Sure some of their stuff is good, not all though. ‘In Rainbows’ in my oppinnion is definetely not what it was hyped to be, though at least it’s better than the stuff they released the past years (after ‘OK Computer’). I am sure people who are into Radiohead have their good reasons, can’t share these though. (while it might well be that many just follow the hype)
