This is the sort of song that makes the blogging lark such a worthwhile exercise for without it I would never have made contact with Bildmeister from Vila do Conde in Portugal. The quartet who are led by Hugo have been about for 10 years and have a scatter of releases to their name. While they generally stick to instrumentals this little wonder from 2004 came complete with indie boy vocals. You’ll hear the Wedding Present in the dextrous chord interplay but what Bildmeister energetically build is something they can truly call their own. The dynamics are rich and varied with enough fuzzy lo-fi ingredients to scare the nasty daytime radio playlisters away. This is a ripe peach in a bowl stuffed with out of date calorie-laden doughnuts. KD
