Manchester Orchestra – Brother

Manchester Orchestra are nothing of the sort. Like, they come from Atlanta and don’t even have a trombone player, what gives? Aside from messing with our easily lead minds (like that other crowd of chancers A Sunny Day In Glasgow) Manchester Orchestra also make some pretty nice indie rock. I’m only starting to appreciate what they’re about having been lead to the party through their cover of Annuals ‘Brother’. Oh Brother, where art thou I hear you scream but in many ways this twist on last year’s anthem is as near a stand alone classic as you’re going to get. In fact if one was to get lost in the moment you could almost be listening to a fabulous new ditty from a band that have appeared on both Letterman and O’Brien this year (wowsers). But, it’s not all one-way traffic; the freakishly talented Adam Baker has returned the favour by DIYing ‘Where Have You Been’, something you may well be repeating with extra words like ‘all my life’ as ‘Brother’ floats about your head.
