If this song were a girl then you’d probably find that most would fall for her every time she walked into the room. ‘Slow Return (To Sleep)’ boasts a flirtatious ingredient that takes full control of your senses for its entirety. Can’t put my finger on why the swirl of noise hits the bullseye but that’s the magic of the creation. Dora Flood are from San Francisco and have made 5 LP’s to date, the latest of which ‘We Live Now’ came out earlier this year. Most of their back catalogue can be downloaded for free from their website including ‘Slow Return (To Sleep)’ from 2002’s ‘Welcome’. This is perfectly executed dreampop, headed up by Michael Padilla’s velveteen singing and ably backed by a cavalcade of jangling chords. KD
