Godspeed You Black Emperor! are signed to the suitably monikered Constellation records from Canada. Although I normally find it a little overbearing to attempt to absorb what GYBE produce this inspired piece from their most acclaimed album ‘Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven!’ leaves me weak at the knees. The album is a monster, double LP territory with 4 distinct acts, which for most (including me) is a lifetimes worth of listening. The opening disc is called ‘Storm’ and the first emotional whammy comes early in the form of ‘Levez Vos Skinny Fists Comme Antennas to Heaven’; a marching procession of brass, tightly woven strings, high duty percussion and guitars masquerading as dangerously low flying enemy aircraft. It’ll leave you exhausted and if you’ve enjoyed it on your own in dire need of some loving company. Absolutely remarkable. KD
