One wonders what the www will throw our way from the musically untapped lands of the far east. Many will have heard of post-rock rumblers Mono but precious little else filters through to us from the land of the rising sun. Tokyo duo Pizzicato Five have made some inroads, however, by way of their novelty single ‘Twiggy Twiggy’. This is something you might expect to hear on an Austin Powers soundtrack such is its giddy sense of psychedelia. The percussion is manically delivered and all manner of squelch, ping and pow is thrown in with Maki Nomiya’s trigger happy vocals. File alongside Deee-Lite’s ‘Groove Is In The Heart’ as a spark to ignite any house party. KD
