‘Ceasefire’ has at its core an important discussion about depression, a topic the world has yet to get to grips with. That the husband and wife duo of Nathaniel Hoff and Jillian Speece create it in a Low likeness is testament to their talent. . There is minimalism but beauty in the chord shards and vocal ingenuity, as a result ‘Ceasefire’ becomes a force for good that sounds ever so pretty. There are layers too as the tune slowly progresses to an epic denouement. The result is a remarkable and important piece of work, marking it out as truly one of 2019’s finest songs. KH
